We're seeking a
Data Engineer/Database Administrator to support a DOJ component. The candidate will be an integral part of a collaborative team, working closely with government staff to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of business stakeholders. This position requires the candidate to hold a current Top Secret security clearance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leverage SQL databases and reporting tools to support the implementation of new IT capabilities and solutions through notifications, reports, and data services.
- Support organizational data needs by delivering SQL-based notifications, reporting, and visualization services.
- Analyze user requirements and deliver end-to-end system solutions, including installing, configuring, and integrating database functionality with IT solutions and business processes.
- Manage, optimize, administer, and support a variety of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and data services.
- Administer, operate, and maintain databases using database administration and system management tools, with a strong focus on SharePoint integration and Microsoft SQL technologies.
- Design and implement data storage frameworks such as databases, data lakes, data warehouses, and cubes to support strategic and tactical organizational objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with data owners, ensuring effective implementation, governance, and continuity of data across business processes and IT infrastructure.
- Perform system requirements gathering, schema design, optimization, and ongoing support and maintenance of IT database systems.
- Conduct system maintenance, validation, and verification in accordance with agency policies, industry best practices, and documentation standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in data management and IT engineering, supporting communication, reporting, and data-driven business processes.
- Provide technical leadership by assessing, identifying, recommending, and implementing IT services to support mission-critical needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in database management using technologies such as SQL, Oracle, MS Access, MySQL, Postgres, XML, and CSV.
- At least 3 years of experience with web-based technologies, including SharePoint and Microsoft SQL, supporting data delivery, consumption, reporting, and visualization in browser-based environments.
- At least 3 years of experience managing and administering SQL Server and other database platforms, including notifications and reporting services.
- Familiarity with server administration, Windows virtual server environments, and government information security, assurance, and accessibility requirements.
- Experience migrating databases across development, test, and production environments is preferred.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure, with strong oral and written communication skills and excellent organizational abilities.
- Experience supporting law enforcement or intelligence agencies with a global presence is highly desired.
