Sr. UC Engineer (VOIP)

Tygart is currently seeking a Sr. UC Engineer (VOIP) to support telecommunications initiatives for a DoJ customer. The ideal candidate will have practical experience planning, installing, and supporting voice-over-IP (VOIP) solutions.   This position requires that the candidate have a current Top Secret security clearance
Responsibilities include:  
  • Engineers, implements, and maintains complex communication solutions and maintains complex communication solutions
  • Provides expert level Tier 3/4 troubleshooting on VOIP and telephony systems, SIP trunk gateways, and associated systems and equipment
  • Proactively addresses operations, performance, and security issues

The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience on VOIP projects.
  • Experience with pre-installation design, planning and installation activities. Experience troubleshooting at/post cut-over. Experience assisting in the ongoing support and upgrades for the solutions post-deployment.
  • Experience performing moves, adds, and changes on as as-needed basis for various upgrades and configurations of existing VOIP and Avaya systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting Tier 4 tickets on VOIP and telephony systems, SIP trunk gateways and other Avaya systems such as Communications Manager, Session Manager and Avaya Aura Messaging.
  • Experience providing Microsoft/VMware domain expertise to include Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) enterprise directory, servers, domain access, backups/restoration.
  • Experience providing circuit, network and firewall readiness expertise to include requirements gathering, delivery and staging support.
  • Experience providing data gathering, station and trunk programing support, user training, resource management, and site scheduling/rescheduling support.
  • Experience with integration of Avaya UC/CC systems and third party non-Avaya adjuncts (call recording, workforce optimization, AI solutions and others), SIP session management and SIP protocol, Security Architecture and Design (signaling and media encryption is a plus), creating architecture design artifacts, core data networking and network management, Windows/VMWare Engineering and Windows OS administration and troubleshooting.
  • Avaya Certification and Security+ Certifications are highly desirable
  • Must be able to well under pressure, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills.
