Data Engineer / DBA

Responsibilities include:
- Leverage SQL Database and Reporting functionality to support the implementation of new IT capabilities and solutions through notifications, reports, and data.
- Support data needs and provide SQL notifications and reporting services.
- Analyze user requirements and deliver whole system solutions, including installing and integrating database functionality with IT solutions and business needs.
- Manage, optimize, and support a variety of relational database management systems and data services.
- Administer, operate and maintain data through database administration and other system tools (particularly SharePoint integration and management of underlying Microsoft SQL technologies).
- Create new data storage frameworks (databases, lakes, warehouses, cubes) to support strategic and tactical organizational goals.
- Broker relationships with data owners and providing implementation, management and control of data to ensure continuity of operations between processes and the underlying IT infrastructure.
- Perform system requirements collection, schema designs, optimization, and support through maintenance of IT database systems.
- Perform system maintenance, validation, and verification in accordance with agency polices, industry best practices and being accountable for system documentation.
- Provide subject matter expertise in collecting, analyzing, implementing IT engineering to meet the communication and data management needs of the business processes.
- Provide technical leadership and assessing, identifying, recommending, and implementing services in support of mission needs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science / Computer Engineering, Engineering or Computer Information Systems degrees, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline.
- Eight (8) years’ experience in database management, utilizing database technologies such as MS Access, SQL, Oracle, MS Access, MySQL, Postgres, XML, CSV
- Three (3) years’ experience in web technologies such as SharePoint and Microsoft SQL as they apply to the delivery, consumption, reporting, and visualization of information over Internet / Browser based environments.
- Three (3) years’ experience in the management and administration of SQL Server and other databases to include notifications and reporting services.
- Familiarity with server administration, Windows virtual server administration, and government information security, assurance, and accessibility.
- Experience migrating databases between environments is desired.
- Must be able to well under pressure, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills.
- Experience supporting law enforcement / intelligence agencies with a global presence is highly desired.
