Tygart is currently seeking a
Data Engineer / Database Administrator to support a DOJ component. The candidate will be an integral part of a collaborative team, working closely with government staff to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of business stakeholders.
This position requires the candidate to hold a current Top Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities include:
- Utilize SQL databases and reporting tools to support the implementation of new IT capabilities and solutions through notifications, reports, and data.
- Provide support for data needs and deliver SQL-based notifications and reporting services.
- Analyze user requirements and deliver comprehensive system solutions, including installing and integrating database functionality with IT solutions and business needs.
- Manage, optimize, and support a variety of relational database management systems and data services.
- Administer, operate, and maintain data using database administration tools and other system management utilities, particularly in relation to SharePoint integration and Microsoft SQL technologies.
- Design and implement new data storage frameworks (databases, lakes, warehouses, cubes) to support strategic and tactical organizational goals.
- Develop relationships with data owners, overseeing the implementation, management, and control of data to ensure continuity between processes and the IT infrastructure.
- Perform system requirements collection, schema design, optimization, and provide ongoing maintenance for IT database systems.
- Maintain, validate, and verify systems in accordance with agency policies, industry best practices, and ensure comprehensive system documentation.
- Provide subject matter expertise in collecting, analyzing, and implementing IT engineering solutions to meet the communication and data management needs of business processes.
- Offer technical leadership, assess, identify, recommend, and implement services in support of mission-critical needs.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Current Top Secret security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or another related analytical, scientific, or technical discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in database management, utilizing technologies such as MS Access, SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, XML, and CSV.
- At least 3 years of experience with web technologies, including SharePoint and Microsoft SQL, as they pertain to delivering, consuming, reporting, and visualizing information in Internet/browser-based environments.
- At least 3 years of experience in managing and administering SQL Server and other databases, including notifications and reporting services.
- Familiarity with server administration, Windows virtual server administration, and government information security, assurance, and accessibility protocols.
- Experience migrating databases between different environments is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational capabilities.
- Experience supporting law enforcement or intelligence agencies with a global presence is highly desired.
